The temple of Mata Baglamukhi is situated in Nalkheda tehsil in Agar-Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh. This is a proven place for the sages and tantriks of Shaiva and Shakta sects. The fame of the temple is such that many big leaders of the country perform yajna-rituals here to win elections.
This Devi temple located on the banks of the Lakhundar (old name Laxmana) river has Trishakti Mata seated in it who is considered to be self-manifested. The idol of Mata Baglamukhi is situated in only three places in the whole world, which are Nepal, Datia of Madhya Pradesh and Nalkheda of Madhya Pradesh. Out of these, Nalkheda is considered to be the main and proven temple of Baglamukhi Mata. Mata Baglamukhi installed in the temple is called Trishakti Mata because it is probably the only temple in India where three goddesses are present in the self-manifested idol of Mata. Mata Baglamukhi is seated in the middle, Maa Lakshmi on the right side and Maa Saraswati on the left side. Mata Baglamukhi is known as the original power of Maharudra (Mrityunjay Shiva). Prana Toshini is a book based on Tantra Vidya in which the origin of Mata Baglamukhi is explained. It is said that in the Satyuga, a devastating storm came which had the potential to destroy the entire world. To stop this storm, Lord Vishnu performed penance near Haridra Sarovar in Saurashtra region. Pleased with his penance, Mata Baglamukhi appeared on Chaturdashi Tithi and protected the world from that devastating storm. Mata Baglamukhi Temple located in Nalkheda is considered to be the best place of worship for Siddha Sadhu-saints and Tantrikas apart from ordinary devotees. Being surrounded by crematoriums from all sides and situated on the banks of the river, this place is considered suitable for Tantric Vidya Sadhna. The importance of this temple increases even more during Navratri.
There are many Samadhis of Sadhu-saints around the temple and on the banks of the river, which is proof that Sadhu-saints lived here till the last time of their life. The Mirchi Havan of the temple is famous all over India which is performed for the removal of all kinds of troubles and destruction of enemies. There is a Havan Sthal behind the temple where 25-30 Havans are performed simultaneously. Seeing this Havan ritual live is a divine experience in itself..
